Food & Ag Day takes over University of Minnesota Gopher football game

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Minnesota agriculture took center stage at TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday during the 5th Annual Ag & Food Day, as the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers took on the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. The more than 43,000 in attendance were treated to a convincing Gopher victory while learning about the work of Minnesota’s farmers.

MCGA Grower Leaders joined Maizey Saturday

Prior to the game, ag companies and commodity groups filled Oak Street in front of the stadium with takeaway items and information about the various sectors that make up Minnesota agriculture. Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) staff and grower leaders were on hand to discuss the great work of our state’s corn farmers, and Maizey was also present to interact with the crowd.

Sweet corn ice cream provided by MCGA was offered to fans looking to cool down on the unseasonably warm day. MCGA frisbees and beads were also given away to those who stopped by.

During the game, MCGA was featured on in-game signage throughout TCF Bank Stadium and also mentioned multiple times during the radio broadcast of the game. Corn-focused facts and trivia were shown on the video board during the game as a fun way to spread awareness of little-known field corn info.

MCGA’s presence at Ag & Food Day is part of a larger partnership with Gopher Sports. Minnesota Corn will be mentioned on radio broadcasts for Gopher football and hockey throughout the year. MCGA will also be unveiling a new Zamboni design during the 2017-2018 men’s and women’s hockey season featuring Minnesota corn farmers’ commitment to conservation.
