Hoseth grows corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa, in addition to owning about 150 cows, on his farm. He also is a seed salesman, focusing on cover crop seeds, alfalfa, corn and soybeans.

Hoseth, who has board experience locally, looks forward to attending his first MCGA-Minnesota Corn Research & Promotion Council board meeting next week. One of his priorities entering his first board meeting is finding new markets for Minnesota corn.

“We have a supply-and-demand issue that is driving down prices right now, so I hope to be able to help do a better job of marketing our corn to new partners,” Hoseth said. “We need to get the prices back to what makes sense.”

In his own travels abroad, Hoseth said he has heard from potential export partners about the quality of American corn and the demand that exists for it. He hopes he can help build those export markets as a member of the board.

Hoseth said he also has a passion for supporting youth engagement efforts through 4-H and FFA. He looks forward to continuing MCGA’s support of both programs.

Hoseth joins Richard Syverson (district 4), who farms in Swift County, as newly elected MCGA board members. Re-elected were Jean Knakmuhs of Redwood County (district one), Harold Wolle of Watonwan County (district two), Les Anderson of Goodhue County (district three), Brian Thalmann of McLeod County (district five) and Dan Root of Dodge County (at-large).
