RFA partners with American Chopper to produce E85-fueled motorcycle

To address misconceptions that ethanol-blended fuels are harmful to small engines, the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) partnered with Discovery Channel’s American Chopper to debut a custom-made bike that runs exclusively on E85.

Designed by American Chopper’s Paul Teutel Jr., the patriotic-themed bike was built through a partnership with RFA that included funding from the Minnesota Corn Growers Association. The goal of the partnership was to raise public awareness of not only the safety, but the benefits of ethanol use in motorcycles and other small engine vehicles.

The custom motorcycle is the centerpiece for RFA’s new consumer-focused educational campaign called “Fuel Your Knowledge” to educate and inform consumers about the proper use of ethanol-blended fuels in boats, motorcycles, lawn and garden equipment and other off-road engines.

Other promotional efforts in the campaign include a co-title sponsorship of the Crappie Masters Tournament Trail professional fishing series, involvement with an upcoming reality TV series, as well as the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. RFA will also be releasing new online content, videos, promotional materials, sponsorships, trade show exhibits, and more.
