MCGA Chairman Wolle seeks NCGA Corn Board position

Harold Wolle Reading Time: 2 minutes

Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) board member Harold Wolle is running for a position on the National Corn Growers Association Corn Board. Wolle is one of seven candidates vying for a position on the Corn Board, which will be voted on at Corn Congress next week (July 18-19).

Now in his seventh year serving on the MCGA board, Wolle hopes to join the Corn Board as it works to overcome hurdles and continue building corn demand, enhancing sustainability and improving consumer trust.

Wolle, who continues to farm 1,700 acres in Madelia, Minn., with his son, Matt, has more than four decades of leadership experience in agriculture. He has served on the board of his local Soil and Water Conversation District, co-op board and ethanol co-op board—all in addition to his tremendous contributions as a member of MCGA’s board of directors. Wolle is also a representative with the U.S. Grains Council, through which he has worked to build export markets for the nation’s corn supply

Wolle’s vast experience in leadership positions have prepared him to be a valuable member of the Corn Board. Just over the past winter, Wolle was in roles that have taken him to Southeast Asia where he promoted American corn and Washington D.C. for conversation with legislative leaders as he advocates for the nation’s corn growers.

If elected to the Corn Board, Wolle said he would most look forward to working on the policy issues that impact the nation’s corn growers. Currently, he serves on NCGA’s Risk Management Action Team and U.S. Grains Council’s Ethanol Action Team. Both appointments have allowed him to be involved in shaping policy in areas that are important to corn farmers.

All seven National Corn Board candidates will be present at NCGA Corn Congress in Washington D.C. where they will have time to address delegates before the election process begins. There are three wi gave completed eligible board service in 2018, meaning there are five seats up for election. If elected, Wolle would join Tom Haag, who farms in Eden Valley, as the second MCGA member serving on the Corn Board.

The other candidates are Dan Cole (Plainville, Ill.), Deb Gangwish (Shelton, Neb.), Mike Lefever (Longmont, Colo.), Dennis Maple (Greentown, Ind.), Bruce Rohwer (Paullina, Iowa) and Jeff Sandborn (Portland, Mich.).
