The Soil Health Summit has something for all farmers

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Soil Health Summit comes to St. Louis Jan. 15-16, and for the first time in its history, it will be open to all farmers and the general public.

Organized by the Soil Health Partnership, the Soil Health Summit is for farmers who would like to benefit from high-energy education led by experts and peer networking with like-minded farmers focused on conservation.

Farmers are encouraged to register by Dec. 21 to reserve their spot.

For the first time in 2019, the Soil Health Partnership will be able to share insights it has gathered over three years of on-farm research at the event. SHP’s new executive director, Dr. Shefali Mehta, will be discussing the impact of a number of different soil health practices that have been tested on farms throughout the Corn Belt.

Other topics that will be covered in educational sessions include:

  • How to have a soil health conversation with landowners to meet grower goals while helping landowners maintain and improve their land asset
  • Current challenges of cover crop chemical control, and the effects of herbicide carryover on cover crops
  • An update of what regulatory changes have taken place, from federal policy to key state-level decisions that may influence other geographies
  • How farmers can most effectively use social media to take their farm to the next level

A number of networking opportunities will also take place in between educational sessions, offering farmers the chance to discuss soil health strategies with farmers from other geographies.
