Sorting out the issue on food safety

Fortunately, food safety has always been a primary concern of the federal, state and local governments. Because of the extensive web of monitoring systems, American consumers consistently enjoy food of the highest safety standards. It's also important to remember that proper food preparation at home is critical for your family's safety. Below are government resources available to you when you have a question on food safety.

FDA: The Food and Drug Administration's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition sets the standards and monitors the food we eat.

Government Food Safety: The Gateway to Government Food Safety Information provides tips on how to make sure your food is safe at home - from proper food preparation and

hand washing to understanding allergens.

The University of Minnesota: The University of Minnesota's Web site includes information on programs that help people make informed decisions to improve their health, food safety and quality of life.
