Minnesota Corn Growers Association Sponsors Academy for Sciences & Agriculture High School

AFSA_High_School_logoThe Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) is the newest sponsor of the Academy for Sciences & Agriculture (AFSA) High School.  MCGA is funding two college scholarships for students who will graduate from AFSA High School in spring 2016.

“Minnesota’s corn farmers are proud to play a role in giving two AFSA High School students the opportunity to attend college,” said Bruce Peterson, a farmer in Northfield and president of MCGA.

Minnesota Corn Growers Association Selects 2015-16 Student Agvocates

In an effort to develop the next generation of leaders in Minnesota agriculture, the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) has selected three college students to serve as student Agvocates in 2015-16.

Over the next year, Katie Peterson, Tim Rasmussen and Sam Peterson will work on behalf of Minnesota’s corn farmers while gaining valuable leadership experience in the areas of production agriculture, agribusiness, ag policy, public relations and environmental stewardship.

MCGA student Agvocates help corn farmers connect with the non-farming public on college campuses and at events throughout Minnesota.

College students: MCGA wants YOU (to become an Agvocate)

Are you a post-secondary student who wants to develop hands-on leadership experience with agriculture professionals? Are you passionate about farming and want to use your energy to improve agriculture overall? Do you enjoy talking with consumers about important issues related to food, farming and biofuels? Would you like a $3,000 scholarship?

If you answered “yes,” then the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) would like you to be a 2015-16 Student Agvocate.

Applications to work on behalf of Minnesota’s corn farmers as a Student Agvocate are currently being accepted through April 10.

Students: Here's why you should apply to become a MCGA "Agvocate"

Applications are being accepted through April 18 to become an “Agvocate” for the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA). Agvocates receive a $3,000 scholarship to be used for qualified education expenses, and will develop leadership skills while receiving first-hand experience working on issues important to corn farmers and advocating for agriculture.
