MCGA wraps up another great year at Farmfest

Farmfest, the largest outdoor farm show in Minnesota, wrapped up its three-day 2016 show last Thursday. Once again there was a strong presence by the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA).

On Tuesday, MCGA sponsored “Ag Innovation Day,” which featured panel discussions, as well as a presentation by Minnesota 4-H student teams. These teams were some of the top finishers in 4-H’s Science of Agriculture challenge.

Minnesota Corn will be well-represented at Farmfest 2016

FamFest 2016The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) will once again have a strong presence at Farmfest 2016, which will be held next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Gillfillan Estate, near Morgan.

Conservation Innovation at its finest

Nitrate sample testing offered by MAWRC a hit at Farmfest

With all the recent buzz about ag water quality, the Minnesota Agricultural Water Resource Center (MAWRC) offered free and confidential sample testing for nitrates at this year’s FarmFest, Aug. 5-7 near Redwood Falls.

“We tested samples of water that landowners brought from wells, drainage tile and ditches on their property,” said Tim Radatz, research specialist at MAWRC. “We got an excellent response to the service. People who were unaware that we were offering it stopped and talked to us anyway.

Everything you Need to Know about MCGA at Farmfest 2013

The farm bill, renewable energy and a new tax on machinery repair were three topics that generated buzz at Farmfest 2013, which started on Tuesday and wrapped up on Thursday this week in Morgan.

The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) was once again well represented at the event. Corn farmers, MCGA partners and MCGA staff conducted 41 interviews with a variety of media outlets over the three-day event. Topics ranged from the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) and surging ethanol sales to farmer-led water quality initiatives and research projects.

Update on the Farm Bill as MCGA Heads to Farmfest

Minnesota Corn Growers Association staff is heading to Farmfest Monday morning. Representatives Collin Peterson and Tim Walz are scheduled to appear, and will likely provide an update on the chances of a new farm bill passing by Sept. 30, when the current legislation expires.

Ethanol Powers Minnesota Stock Car Driver to Jam the Stands Victory in Alexandria

Justin Vogel needed to pass 15 other cars in order to win the street stock feature race at Viking Speedway in Alexandria on Saturday, July 27. One by one, Vogel and his ethanol-powered yellow No. 10 Brooten Auto car roared past the other drivers and cruised into victory lane.
