Northern farmers can again take advantage of free bus ride to MN Ag EXPO

Northern farmers will once again have the option to sit back, relax and enjoy the bus ride to MN Ag EXPO in Mankato next month. Farmers are encouraged to take advantage of the stress-free ride by hopping on the bus at one of four stops across northern Minnesota.

The bus will be picking up farmers in Red Lake Falls, Fertile Ada, Barnesville and Fergus Falls the morning of Jan. 23, which is the day before EXPO begins.

MN Ag EXPO will take over Mankato Jan. 24-25, 2018, at the Verizon Wireless Center. The biggest and best agricultural show in Minnesota features an excellent list of exhibitors and an engaging lineup of speakers. The event is free to attend for all farmers, and you can pre-register today.

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, Ron Lamberty from the American Coalition for Ethanol will begin the day with an update on the world of ethanol.

MN Ag EXPO 2017 is set for Wednesday and Thursday of next week at the Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato.

The Minnesota Corn Growers Association’s (MCGA) silent fundraising auction will be held from noon-4 p.m. and will be followed immediately by the live auction from 4-5:30 p.m., both on Wednesday. More than one hundred items, ranging from the practical to the one-of-a-kind, can come home with you if you place the winning bid.

Ride the FREE bus to MN Ag EXPO 2017

Minnesota Corn Growers highlight 2015 activities at the county level

From scholarships to flex-fuel promotions and billboards to field days – the Minnesota Corn Growers Association’s (MCGA) county affiliates had a big year in 2015. MCGA’s state office in Shakopee works closely with 52 local county affiliates to promote corn farming, homegrown ethanol and other agriculture-related activities in communities throughout Minnesota.

For example, 23 counties provided more than $60,000 in scholarships to students pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field. Local MCGA affiliates were represented in 87 area parades,

Karl Duncanson, Tim Gerlach and Al Juhnke receive MCGA awards at MN Ag EXPO 2016

The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) recognized three individuals for their outstanding contributions to agriculture and corn farming recently at MN Ag EXPO 2016 in Mankato.

Karl Duncanson and Tim Gerlach were named co-recipients of the Golden Kernel Award, which is awarded to individuals who were at one time directly involved with Minnesota Corn. Duncanson was a third-generation farmer in Mapleton who served on the Minnesota Corn Research & Promotion Council (MCR&PC).

New MN Ag EXPO panels to cover agriculture policy and advocacy

MN Ag EXPO 2016 features two new panel discussions led by a pair of the most recognizable names in Midwest farm broadcasting. On Thursday, Jan. 28 (that’s just a couple days away!), Lynn Ketelsen from the Linder Farm Network and Don Wick from Red River Farm Network will lead panel discussions titled “The Future of Ag Policy in Minnesota” and “Advocating for Agriculture.”

“The Future of Ag Policy in Minnesota” is set to feature former Minnesota speaker of the house Kurt Zellers and prominent Minnesota political analyst Blois Olson.
