Research funded by Minnesota corn farmers to be highlighted in new publication

Minnesota’s corn farmers support $4 million in third-party research projects annually that address important topics like protecting water quality, increasing yields and managing inputs such as fertilizer more efficiently and effectively.

A new “Research Summary” publication from the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) and Minnesota Corn Research & Promotion Council (MCR&PC) will highlight more than 50 completed research projects. The summary will be mailed to all Minnesota corn farmers in the coming weeks.

MCGA Radio: Science of Agriculture Response Challenge

This week’s guest on MCGA Radio is Dr. Joshua Rice, Ph.D., an assistant Extension Professor at the University of Minnesota who coordinates the Minnesota 4-H Science of Agriculture Response Challenge,

The challenge partners youth teams with local expert mentors to develop science-based responses to ag issues. The Minnesota Corn Growers Association is helping promote the challenge.

Nutrition conference highlights important topics for corn and livestock farmers

Minnesota’s top animal nutritionists know to save the third Wednesday and Thursday of September for the chance to engage with colleagues in top level conversations about the latest news and research into what keeps livestock animals strong, healthy and growing.

“More than ever, livestock and crop agriculture depend on each other in order to succeed,” said Chuck DeGrote, a Clara City farmer and Expanded Uses team leader for the Minnesota Corn Growers Association.

Minnesota Corn names Adam Birr Executive Director

The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) and the Minnesota Corn Research & Promotion Council (MCR&PC) has named Adam Birr, Ph.D., Executive Director of both organizations.

As executive director of MCGA, Birr will lead an organization that is more than 7,100 members strong and represents the interests of Minnesota’s 25,000 corn farmers. His leadership of MCR&PC will involve oversight of the efficient and effective administration of Minnesota’s corn check-off.

Birr has served as MCGA’s Research Director since March of 2013 and will begin as Executive Director on Oct.
