SUMMARY:Nitrogen Smart Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Farmers and ag professionals interested in fine-tuning their nitrogen fertilizer management to improve profitability and water quality are encouraged to attend the upcoming Nitrogen Smart webinars offered by University of Minnesota Extension. Thanks to the generous support of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association\, there is no cost to attend. \nThe Nitrogen Smart program has a five-year track record of success\, with 94% of attendees saying they would recommend attendance to another person.  Nitrogen Smart focuses on how nitrogen behaves in the environment with an emphasis on helping farmers determine the best practices for nitrogen fertilizer application on their own farm\, based on their own field and environmental conditions. \nPreviously\, Nitrogen Smart sessions have been offered in-person or as an online course.  While there is currently a pause in in-person programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we are pleased to announce a schedule of virtual events in addition to the online course. \nNitrogen Smart Fundamentals \nThe original Fundamentals course will be divided into two parts\, taking place over two days: \n\nFundamentals I: Monday\, February 22 from 1:30pm-3pm\nFundamentals II: Tuesday\, February 23 from 10am – 11:30am\n\nThe Fundamentals session covers sources of nitrogen (N) for crops\, how N is lost from soil and how you can reduce losses\, how to manage N in drainage systems\, and more. We recommend taking the Fundamentals course before taking Advanced Nitrogen Smart. \nAdvanced Nitrogen Smart: A Deep Dive into the 4Rs \nThe Advanced Nitrogen Smart course will cover “A Deep Dive into the 4Rs” and will be split into three parts over the weeks of March 1st\, 8th\, and 15th.  These will be offered on Monday afternoons and duplicated on Tuesday mornings. \n\nPart One: Monday\, March 1\, 1:30 – 2:30pm OR Tuesday\, March 2\, 10 – 11am\nPart Two: Monday\, March 8\, 1:30 – 2:30pm OR Tuesday\, March 9\, 10 – 11 am\nPart Three: Monday\, March 15\, 1:30 – 2:30pm OR Tuesday\, March 16\, 10 – 11 am\n\nThis course is centered on the idea that the goal of soil fertility to apply the right source of nutrient\, at the right rate\, at the right time\, and in the right place. \nRegistration is required.

SUMMARY:MN Ag EXPO
DESCRIPTION:MN Ag EXPO\, co-sponsored by the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) and Minnesota Soybean Growers Association\, will move to a virtual format this Jan. 20-21 due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions. Transitioning MN Ag EXPO 2021 to an online event was a difficult decision for both organizations\, but the move was necessary to ensure the safety of attendees. \n“One of our favorite parts of MN Ag EXPO is the opportunity to come together and catch up with our peers\,” said MCGA President Tim Waibel. “While that will certainly be missed this year\, we look forward to continuing to provide the same high quality speakers and opportunities to learn while keeping in mind the health and safety of all.” \nFarmers can still look forward to a full agenda of educational opportunities over the two day show\, including the latest in best management practices and research shaping the future of ag. Stay connected to MN Ag EXPO speaker announcements by subscribing to MCGA’s free newsletter\, Leader Update\, or visiting MNAgEXPO.com in the coming months.
