A little hail and a few sprinkles weren’t going to dampen the spirits of those at Sever’s Corn Maze & Fall Festival this past Saturday. Smiles and laughter seemed to be the theme of the day as thousands of visitors ignored Mother Nature’s grumblings and, instead, enjoyed the many attractions and activities at Sever’s.

In addition to the normal dose of slide rides, corn maze fun, and exotic animals, visitors on October 5th got in on a special treat. The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) was at the event with games, prizes, and useful information about corn. The Radio Disney Road Crew performed two corn-themed stage shows for attendees and MCGA mascot Maizey and her mascot cousin, Terry Tassel, even stopped by to mingle with the crowd and take photos with fans.

“Our partnership with Sever’s gives farmers an opportunity to connect with our non-farming friends in the metro area,” said Jerry Demmer, chair of the Minnesota Corn Research & Promotion Council and a farmer in Clarks Grove. “It’s an excellent opportunity to be agvocates and build trust with a segment of the population that might not be familiar with farming and food issues.”

A big thank you to everyone who came out last weekend! For additional Sever’s hours, dates and other information, click here.
