Scholarships

Each year, the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA), the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA), and many county corn grower organizations in Minnesota provide scholarships to students pursuing degrees and/or careers in agriculture. Applications for 2024 NCGA scholarships are now open, while the deadline for the 2024 MCGA scholarship has passed. Check this page throughout the winter for the latest information on 2024 county scholarships.

    • Minnesota Corn Scholarship

      Minnesota Corn offers four $5,000 scholarships to young adult members pursuing degrees and careers in agriculture.

      The deadline for the 2024 Minnesota Corn scholarship has passed. Look for information on the 2025 scholarship next fall.

      Additional Details:

      • 2024 application deadline: Jan. 5, 2024.
      • Winners will be notified on or before March 1, 2024.
      • Scholarship winners must submit a copy of paid college or university registration for the fall 2024 semester to the MCGA office. A check for the scholarship amount will be mailed to the student after registration is verified.
      • Awardees may only receive the scholarship once.
    • National Corn Growers Association Scholarships

      The grower-members who make up the National Corn Growers Association are committed to broadening educational opportunities and opening doors to students passionate about serving rural America and keeping their family farms thriving.

      There are currently four national scholarships offered for four distinct audiences:

      • Research Students
      • Technical School/Community College Students
      • Undergraduate Students
      • Graduate Students

    • Benton/Sherburne Corn Growers Student Scholarship Award Program

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Eligible students must currently attend an accredited post-secondary college program pursuing a career in an agricultural related field.
      • OR high school seniors planning to attend an accredited post-secondary college program and pursue a degree in an agricultural related field of student are also eligible.
      • Applicants and their family must reside in a school district being served by the Benton/Sherburne Corn Growers service area.
      • Applicants or their family do not have to be members of the Corn Growers Association to be considered for this scholarship.
      • Previous winners of this scholarship are not eligible.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Amount awarded: Two $2500 scholarships
      • Benton/Sherburne Corn Growers Association Directors will select up to 2 qualified scholarship winners and the scholarship will be presented to the winner when they are enrolled into their college program of study in the fall.

    • Brown County Soybean/Corn Growers Association

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • The Applicant must be a high school graduate residing in Brown County.
      • Applicants must be pursuing a college education at a 2 year or 4 year post-secondary institution.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Amount awarded: Scholarships ranging from $500-$1000
      • Scholarship funds will be awarded only after receipt of a first semester college transcript showing the student has achieved at least a GPA of 2.0 or greater.

    • Clay-Wilkin Soybean/Corn Growers Student Scholarship Award Program

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Applicant must be a high school senior graduating in 2023
      • Applicant must reside in Clay or Wilkin County
      • Applicant must be pursuing a post-secondary education in an agricultural-related field.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Amount awarded: Select number of $1000 scholarships
      • Scholarship funds will be awarded only after receipt of a first semester college transcript showing the student has achieved a GPA of a 2.0 or greater.
      • Transcripts must be turned in during the following semester/quarter of school.

    • Cottonwood County Corn & Soybean Growers Association Scholarship

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • The applicant must be a graduating high school student enrolled at an institution of higher education.
      • The applicant must be pursuing a degree in agriculture or an agriculture-related field.
      • Applicant must also possess a GPA of 2.5 or better.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Selection is based on academic aptitude, vocational promise, personal attributes and leadership qualities.
      • Students will receive funds after first semester transcript and second semester proof of enrollment.
      • This scholarship is made available through Cottonwood County Corn and Soybean Growers.

    • Dakota/Rice County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Students residing in Dakota or Rice county that are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural-related field.
      • Students who plan to attend a two year college with the intent of transferring and continuing towards a Bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Amount awarded: Up to two $3,200 AFA scholarships will be awarded. Two local $500 scholarships will also be awarded to students not awarded an AFA scholarship.

    • Douglas County Corn and Soybean Growers Scholarship

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • The Applicant must be a resident of Douglas County graduating from High School in the spring of 2022 or a resident of a county adjacent to Douglas County, graduating from a High School located within Douglas County in the spring of 2022.
      • The applicant must be pursuing post-secondary study in an agricultural related field OR the applicant’s parents or grandparents must be members of the Douglas County Corn and Soybean Growers Association. Not a member? Click here.
      • The Applicant must plan to enroll in a post-secondary education institution.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Amount awarded: $1000 scholarship
      • If awarded, the recipient must submit his or her college transcript upon completion of one semester or quarter of college having achieved a GPA of 2.0 or better. The full scholarship will be sent upon receipt of this information.

    • Dodge County Corn and Soybean Growers Association Scholarships

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • High school seniors or current college students planning to or currently studying an agriculture-related field.
      • Scholarships include Blooming Prairie, Hayfield, Kasson-Mantorville, and Triton graduating seniors and currently attending college students.

      Scholarship Description:

      • AFA Leader and Academic Scholarship: $4,450 (a $3,200 academic scholarship and $1,250 sponsorship to the AFA Leaders Conference)
      • Dodge County Corn And Soybean Growers Community Scholarships: One $1000 scholarship and one $750 scholarship

    • East Central Corn Growers Scholarship (Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine counties)  

      ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

      • Students must currently be a high school senior, or enrolled in a 2 or 4 year college.
      • Parent’s, or student’s themselves can become a member of the organization and students can
        then become eligible for the scholarship program.
      • Student must be planning on attending an agricultural program at a two- year or four- year
        college majoring in:

        • Ag Business
        • Ag Production
        • Ag Engineering
        • Ag Education
        • Any Ag related field of study

       

      Scholarship will be awarded on the following criteria:

      • Student must reside in one of the following counties: Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Pine
      • Family must be Corn Grower Association member
      • Student activities
      • Student academics
      • Community activities
      • Scholarship will be awarded on a 2.0 GPA or higher after 1st semester of a post

      APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

      • . Short Essay (2 – 3 paragraphs)
        • Essay based on what the student has accomplished being involved in agriculture
        • Future plans with their degree in agriculture
        • The future of corn and soybeans. You can talk about markets, uses and
          technology advances and any research that you may find.

      East Central Board members will determine who will receive the scholarships, which we have a value of at least $500. Scholarships are awarded once to a recipient, not renewable.

    • Freeborn County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship

      AFA (Agriculture Futures of America) scholarship:

      • Up to two students will receive a $3,200 academic scholarship
      • Sponsorship to attend the annual AFA conference
      • Students who plan to attend a 4-year school OR technical college with plans to continue
      to a 4-year program to pursue their degree are eligible.

      Freeborn County Corn and Soybean Growers:

      • Two students will receive a $1,000 academic scholarship
      • Students who plan to attend a 4-year school OR technical college are eligible.

      Details:

      • Students must be residents of Freeborn county and be pursuing an agricultural degree
      • Applications will be vetted by the Freeborn County Corn & Soybean Growers board and
      students will be asked to participate in a brief in-person interview.

    • Kandiyohi County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Applicant should be pursuing a post-secondary education in an agricultural related field.
      • Preference is given to applicants whose parents are members of the Kandiyohi Country Corn and Soybean Growers Association. Not a member? Click here.
      • Applicant must plan to enroll in or be currently enrolled in a two, three, or four-year post-secondary education institution.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Amount awarded: Two $1000 scholarships.
      • If awarded, the recipient must submit his/her college transcripts upon completion of his/her 1st semester or quarter of post-secondary education and must have achieved a GPA of 2.0 or better.
      • The full scholarship will be sent upon receipt of the transcript information.

    • Lyon County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship

      ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

      • Applicant must be a high school JUNIOR OR SENIOR planning to study an agricultural based program at a post secondary school of their choice.
      • Membership Requirements
        • Will be required to fill out the student membership application to Lyon County corn and soybean growers association. (Fee will be waived).
      • The application must be submitted by May 1, 2023.
      • Scholarships are for one year and will be awarded for the 2023-2024 or 2024-2025 academic year depending on the graduation date of the applicant.

       

      The Lyon County Corn and Soybean Growers will award scholarships to high school juniors or seniors pursuing a degree in any agriculturally related field.

      APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

      • A completed online application
      • Current transcript (Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5+ to be eligible)
      • One completed Essay Questions: (Please answer 1 of the 3 essay questions)
        • In 3-4 paragraphs, please describe how your interests and achievements, both academic and extra-curricular, demonstrate a capacity for leadership, commitment to using your knowledge to serve the agriculture industry and to applying your talents to improve the lives of others.
        • How will you be an advocate for agriculture in your future career? Be sure to include how you will positively impact agriculture. (500 word essay) OR Provide YouTube link to 2-3 minute video answering the same question.
        • In 3-4 paragraphs, What do you believe are the three most important issues facing agriculture today?

    • McLeod County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Eligible students must currently be a high school senior or college freshmen.
      • The applicants’ parents or the applicant themselves must be members of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association or Minnesota Soybean Growers Association, and the McLeod County Corn and Soybean Growers.       • Applicant must be planning to attend an agricultural program at a two-year or four-year college majoring in ag business, ag production, ag engineering, ag education, or another ag-related field of study.
      • Applicant must reside in McLeod County.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Scholarship will be awarded based on the applicant qualifications listed above as well as student academics, community activities, and essay questions.
      • The scholarship will be awarded pending a 2.0 GPA or higher after the 1st semester of post-secondary school.
      • Amount awarded: Up to five scholarships of $500
      • McLeod County Corn and Soybean Growers board members will evaluate the applications and determine the scholarship recipient.
      • McLeod County Scholarships are awarded once to the recipient, and are not renewable.

    • Meeker County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Applicants must be enrolled at an accredited technical school, junior college, college, or university.
      • Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in agriculture, agribusiness, or a degree that will be utilized in agriculture.
      • Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.
      • Applicants must be an NCGA member or son/daughter of an NCGA member. Not a member? Click here to join online or contact the MCGA office at 952-233-0333.
      • Employees and the families of employees of any division NCGA are not eligible for the scholarship.
      • Past winners are not eligible for the scholarship.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Amount awarded: $500-$1.000.
      • Scholarships are for one year.
      • Scholarships may be used to offset tuition, school supplies, or student housing.
      • Scholarships are awarded for the 2024-2025 school year.
      • Funds will be issued directly to the student after completing the fall 2024 semester. Funds will be presented to students at the Meeker Corn Growers Annual Meeting in January of 2025 after receiving a copy of the 1st semester transcripts.

    • Morrison/Crow Wing County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Applicant’s permanent address must be from one of the two sponsoring counties: Morrison or Crow Wing.
      • Applicant must be enrolling in post-secondary education to pursue further education in the agriculture industry.
      • Applicant must plan to attend either a 2- or 4-year college/university or technical college.
      • Recipients will be chosen on the basis of scholastic involvement, home and community involvement, and a short essay describing their educational/career goals

      Scholarship Description:

      • Two scholarships for at least $500 will be awarded.
      • Morrison-Crow Wing County Corn Growers reserves the right to award additional scholarships and/or dollar amount depending on the funds we have available. All scholarship decisions will be made by the County scholarship committee and are final.
      • Payment of scholarship will be made to the student upon completion of 1st semester of the 2nd year in the agriculture institution of their choice.

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Eligible students must be enrolled in or will be attending an agricultural program at a two-year or four-year college majoring in: ag business, ag production, ag engineering, ag education or any ag related field of study.
      • Applicant must reside in Nicollet or Sibley County.
      • Family must be a Sibley or Nicollet County Corn or Soybean Grower member. Click here to join online.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Amount awarded: Two $500 adult scholarships
      • Amount awarded: Six $1000 student scholarships

    • Nobles County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Applicant must be a 2024 graduating high school senior.
      • Student applicants must reside in Nobles County.
      • Applicant must also be planning to attend any two or four year college for an agriculture or bio-science related field of study.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Amount awarded: $1,500 scholarships
      • This scholarship is provided in partnership with the Agribusiness Committee of the Forward Worthington, Nobles County Corn and Soybean Growers Association, Rock Nobles Cattleman and Nobles County Farm Bureau. Click here to read the introductory letter.

    • Norman County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship Program

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Eligible students are enrolled in Norman County schools or their parents are Norman County producers.
      • Applicant must be from a family who is active in agriculture.
      • Applicant must be a senior high school student
      • Applicant must be pursuing an education in ag business/production/engineering/education, or another ag-related field of study.
      • Applicant should also be active in ag-related campus and/or community activities.

      • Amount awarded: Two $500 scholarships

      • Applicant should also be active in ag-related campus and/or community activities.

      ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

      • Applicant must be a high school SENIOR planning to study an agricultural based program at a post secondary school of their choice.
      • Membership Requirements
        • Will be required to fill out the student membership application to Pipestone County corn and soybean growers association. (Fee will be waived).
      • The application must be submitted by April 15, 2024.
      • Scholarships are for one year and will be awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year.

    • Redwood County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Applicant must be graduating high school students enrolled at an institution of higher education or students currently enrolled in secondary education.
      • Eligible students must reside in Redwood County. Students who attend the following schools, but live outside of Redwood County are also eligible: Cedar Mt., Red Rock Central, Redwood Valley, Wabasso, Westbrook/Walnut Grove.
      • An applicant’s parents must be a current Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) and/or Minnesota Soybean Growers Association member. Not a member? Click here to join MCGA online.
      • Applicants must possess a GPA of 2.5/4.0 or better.
      • Preference may be given to applicants pursuing a degree in agriculture or a related field.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Amount awarded: Two $750 scholarships

    • Scott/LeSueur County Corn & Soybean Growers 2022 Phil Meyer Memorial Scholarship Program

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Eligible students must have at least 3 years of membership in FFA, or be active in 4-H for the past 4 years, or be enrolled in or will be attending an agricultural program at a two-year or four-year college majoring in: ag business, ag production, ag engineering, ag education or any ag related field of study.
      • Applicant must reside in Scott or LeSueur County.
      • Family must be a Scott or LeSueur County Corn or Soybean Growers member. Click here to join online.

    • Stearns County Corn Growers Association Scholarship

      The Stearns County Corn Growers Association will award up to eight $1,000 scholarships to students planning to further their education. Each Stearns County school that offers an FFA program will have one $1,000 scholarship given to a student.

      Scholarship Description

      • Scholarships are for one year; previous winners may not reapply.
      • Scholarships may be used to offset tuition, school supplies, or student housing.
      • Scholarships awarded for the 2024-2025 school year.
      • Funds will be issued directly to the student after completing the fall 2024 semester.

      Applicant/Application Requirements:

      • Applicants must enter their first or second year at an accredited junior college, college, or university.
      • Applicant must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in agriculture, agribusiness, or a degree that will be utilized in agriculture.

    • Todd County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship Program

      • Applicant must be a senior in high school or currently attending an accredited junior college, technical school, college or university.
      • Applicant must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in an agricultural, agribusiness, or an ag vocation field.

    • Winona County Corn Growers Association Scholarship

      Scholarship Description

      • The scholarship will be presented to graduating seniors.
      • The funds will be dispersed following successful completion of the first quarter or semester of study.

      Applicant/Application Requirements:

      • Students must live in or attend high school in Southeast Minnesota depending on funds available.
      • Students must enroll in an agricultural related field of study in an accredited post-secondary institution.
      • The student must demonstrate satisfactory progress toward a degree or certificate and submit a copy of their first semester transcript to the address below in order to receive the award.

    • Wright-Hennepin County Corn Growers Scholarship

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • Student must be enrolling to pursue further education in the agricultural industry.
      • Applicant must plan to attend either a 2 or 4 year college.
      • Student’s permanent address has to be from one of the two participating counties: Wright or Hennepin.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Scholarship amount: $750. Each FFA Chapter of Buffalo­ Hanover-Montrose, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Dassel-Cokato, and Rockford will receive one $750 scholarship to one of their chapter members.
      • Recipients will be chosen on the basis of scholastic involvement, home and community involvement, and a short essay describing their educational goals.
      • Payment of scholarship will be made to the student upon completion of first semester of the first year in the agriculture institution of their choice.

    • Yellow Medicine Corn Growers Association Scholarship – In Memory of Matthew Karty

      Applicant Qualifications:

      • The Applicant must be a high school senior, or college freshman.
      • Applicant must reside in Yellow Medicine County

      • Applicants must be planning on attending an agricultural program at a 2 year or 4 year post-secondary institution majoring in: Ag Business, Ag Production, Ag Engineering, Ag Education, or another ag-related field of study.

      Scholarship Description:

      • Amount awarded: One $1000 scholarship
      • Scholarship funds will be awarded only after receipt of a first semester college transcript showing the student has achieved at least a GPA of 2.0 or greater.
