The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) welcomed three new board members to its joint meeting with the Minnesota Corn Research & Promotion Council last week. The three were elected by delegates to January’s MCGA annual meeting at MN Ag EXPO.

Dana Allen-Tully, who lives in Eyota, was elected to represent farmers in District 3. Allen-Tully owns and manages a dairy farm where they also grow corn, alfalfa, sweet peas and sweet corn. David (D.J.) VanKlompenburg and Jim Kanten were elected to At-Large positions. VanKlompenburg resides in Montevideo where he grows corn and soybeans and raises cattle with his family. Kanten grows corn, soybeans and sugarbeets on his farm located in Milan.

“We welcome Dana, D.J. and Jim to the board and look forward to their contributions during their term,” MCGA President Brian Thalmann said. “All three bring unique ag experience and insight that will be invaluable as we continue to build a more sustainable future for corn farmers and their families.

In addition to the election of new board members, John Swanson was also re-elected to represent farmers in District 6 during the annual meeting at MN Ag EXPO. Swanson farms in Mentor, located in northwest Minnesota.

MCGA board members are elected to serve three-year terms and charged with carrying out MCGA’s mission to identify and promote opportunities for the state’s 24,000 corn farmers.
