Top-five most read MCGA blogs in 2020

“Uncertain times” was used all too often over the last year as we entered uncharted territory with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. What started with a promising legislative session ended with COVID-19 continuing to deeply impact all Americans. The following most-read blogs from the last year detail the interest in much-needed relief programs and the biofuel legislation that continues to be a priority it the year ahead.

  1. Paycheck Protection, Economic Injury Disaster Loan programs opens with new funding: Both programs received much-needed funding in legislation that passed in April, opening up both for applicants in need of relief. COVID-19 relief-related blogs occupied the top three most-read spots in 2020, but that wouldn’t make for a very interesting list so we will move on.
  2. Farm safety, mental wellness hit close to home for Extension educator: Extension Education Emily Krekelberg shared her career path and drive to help Minnesota’s farmers stay safe on the farm while effectively managing stress.
  3. Better Fuel Initiative supports a future of cleaner fuels: The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) launched the Better Fuel Initiative with the goal to build a a future of better transportation fuels for all Minnesotans. A central part of the campaign promotes policy that increases the state’s biofuel standard to 15 percent, which will be a top priority in 2021.
  4. Jan. 31 deadline to apply for MCGA $5,000 scholarship: With the deadline near, hundreds of Minnesotans sought out details around the MCGA Scholarship Program, which awarded two $5,000 scholarships to future ag leaders. You can apply for one of FOUR scholarships in the 2021 program until Jan. 8.
  5. The Minnesota Clean Car Standards and the role of biofuels: Minnesotans sought out details around the Minnesota Clean Car Standards and the role of biofuels in the state’s mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
