MCGA to help tackle hunger with Let’s Kick Hunger Day
The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) is joining WCCO Radio and a group of Minnesota-based companies to hold the “Let’s Kick Hunger Day” Radiothon benefitting Second Harvest Heartland on Feb. 4.
Second Harvest Heartland has been fighting hunger in Minnesota for more than three decades. With the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, Minnesotans are facing a hunger surge unlike anything we have seen since the Great Depression. Today, 1 in 8 Minnesotans, including 1 in 5 kids, are facing hunger. The issue has impacted both metro and rural communities equally, with food shelves across Greater Minnesota reporting double and oftentimes triple the demand.
