Apply for an Innovation Grant today!

The Minnesota Corn Innovation Grant Program, which provides funding to farmer-led research projects aimed at making corn farming more productive and sustainable, is now accepting proposals for 2022.
Now through Jan. 15, corn farmers who are subject to the state’s corn check-off and students who work with active farmers can apply for an Innovation Grant. Additionally, researchers can apply for funds to test novel scientific approaches to corn production and nutrient and farm management, and to develop preliminary datasets for future projects.
Farmers who work on their own can receive up to $7,000. Farmers who work with researchers on broader in-depth projects are eligible for grants of up to $30,000 per year. Researchers can receive up to $15,000. Projects must be focused on:
- developing new uses for corn and corn co-products;
- more efficient use of nutrients in corn production;
- improving soil health and air and water quality through conservation tillage and other production practices; or
- making corn production more profitable through innovative farm-management practices.
The Innovation Grant Program is made possible through corn farmers’ investment in the Minnesota corn check-off. To learn more, see examples of previous projects or apply for a grant, visit mncorn.org/research.
