A new Minnesota Corn video series shows how corn farmers productively and sustainability raise their corn crop each year.

“Nate on the Farm” highlights Minnesota’s family corn farmers as they plant, tend, and harvest their crops. The series is hosted by Public Relations Manager Nate Gotlieb and showcases modern life on the farm.

Look for episodes from Minnesota Corn periodically throughout the year that focus on key points in the growing season.

The first episode of “Nate on the Farm” recently published, features Minnesota Corn Growers Association President Richard Syverson, who raises corn, soybeans, and sheep, with his wife, Vicki, in Clontarf, shows how planters precisely put seeds into the ground at even intervals. “Our goal is to get every corn plant to come up on the same day,” he says. “Corn plants that come up three days late are like weeds.”

Syverson, a former dairy farmer, also shows Gotlieb his sheep operation, which is mainly run by Vicki and his son, Paul, a veterinarian. He notes how Vicki had raised sheep for 4-H when she was young and how they had sheep for a while after getting married but got rid of them as their lives became busier.
