There are plenty of reasons to visit Farmfest, Minnesota’s premier agricultural trade show, set for next Tuesday-Thursday, Aug. 6-8, at Gilfillan Estate near Morgan. As always, Minnesota Corn will have an active presence at the event. Stop by the Minnesota Corn tent at the corner of Seed Row and Seventh Street to connect with old friends and learn how corn farmers are building a more sustainable future for all Minnesotans.

Here are five of the best reasons to join us at the show.

MCGA President Dana Allen-Tully speaks during a Farm Bill listening session at Farmfest in 2023.

1. Learn how the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) is advocating for farm families. Hear from MCGA leaders about how they’re encouraging Congress to pass a Farm Bill that protects crop insurance and strengthens the farm safety net under the legislation’s Commodity Title. Join them in telling your family farm story and encouraging members of Congress to support the Farm Bill. And, learn about other MCGA policy priorities, including a robust U.S. trade agenda and a meaningful role for biofuels in U.S. energy policy.

Additionally, tune in to a Farm Bill panel discussion Wednesday afternoon to hear National Corn Growers Association President and Madelia farmer Harold Wolle talk about Farm Bill priorities for corn farmers. Farmfest will also include forums for Minnesota’s U.S. Senate candidates and the state’s First, Second, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth congressional districts. The complete Farmfest forum lineup can be found here.

2. Hear how the Minnesota corn check-off increases opportunities for corn farmers. Each year, the Minnesota Corn Research & Promotion Council allocates check-off funds to research, promotion, and outreach efforts that increase the productivity, efficiency, and profitability of corn farming and quality of life for all Minnesotans. See how these investments support best practices, increase trade opportunities for corn farmers, and develop new uses for corn and corn co-products to drive market demand.

3. People, Planet, Profit: Minnesota Corn’s approach to sustainability. Minnesota Corn has made significant investments for decades in the three pillars of sustainability. Learn how we strengthen rural communities, responsibly manage and replenish finite resources used for farming, and aim to provide a fair margin of profit for farmers. Read Minnesota Corn’s inaugural Sustainability Report to learn more.

Farmers sign up for MCGA membership at Farmfest in 2023.

4. Join MCGA for a special reward! There are plenty of reasons to join MCGA. Your membership ensures that corn farmers are represented in St. Paul and Washington, D.C., during discussions on the Farm Bill and other legislation. It allows MCGA to respond to state and federal policy proposals that would negatively affect farm families. And, it provides you access to a host of benefits and scholarship opportunities for young adult members. During Farmfest, join MCGA or renew your membership for a special reward: a Minnesota Corn tool bag.

5. Sweet corn ice cream! Stop by the Minnesota Corn tent for a free sample of this delicious sweet treat made just for Farmfest by the University of Minnesota. We all scream for sweet corn ice cream!

Hope to see you there!

We hope to see you next week at Farmfest! It will be another great event of learning about the latest in farm technology, connecting with your fellow farmers, and seeing how Minnesota Corn is building a brighter future for all Minnesotans. We can’t wait!
