Minnesota Corn Highlights Significant Investment in Biofuels Infrastructure

Minnesota Corn is pleased to share that the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) has awarded $3,562,165 in grants through the AGRI Biofuels Infrastructure Grant Program for Fiscal Year 2025. This significant investment will enhance the state’s biofuels infrastructure, which is crucial for promoting higher ethanol blends.
The funds will support 20 stations across Minnesota, highlighting the importance of biofuels for both the environment and the economy. This investment not only reinforces Minnesota’s status as a leader in biofuels but also directly benefits local farmers by expanding the market for homegrown crops used in renewable fuels. The increased demand for renewable biofuel made from corn will ultimately strengthen Minnesota’s agricultural economy.
In 2021, the Minnesota Corn Research & Promotion Council contributed $1,000,000 to the Biofuels Infrastructure Grant fund at the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA).
The expanded infrastructure will provide consumers with more options, boost the rural economy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and create a market for Minnesota producers. Notably, Minnesota consumers saved $25 million in 2024 by using Unleaded 88 (E15).
For more information on the grant recipients, visit the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s website.
Currently, Minnesota boasts over 500 fuel stations offering Unleaded 88, an increase from just 26 in 2015 and 256 in 2017.
Minnesota Corn thanks the Minnesota Department of Agriculture for its partnership on the biofuels infrastructure grant program, as well as the state Legislature for its funding support. To locate a fueling station that offers ethanol blends near you, visit mnfuels.com.
