The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) recently welcomed two great additions to the office in Shakopee. Multimedia Specialist Suusen Ng and Public Policy Specialist Alex Trunnel both began last week.

Ng and Trunnel bring great experience in their respective fields to the world of Minnesota Corn. Take a moment to get to know Suusen and Alex today:

My name is Suusen Ng, and I am the multimedia specialist for MCGA.

I was born and raised in Malaysia and left the nest to attend Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, in 2014. I pretty much grew up in the city setting and the only connection I’d say I have with corn is being in Iowa for 4 years (cheesy, I know!).

I graduated with a degree in art and graphic design with minors in business and psychology. During my college years, I had the opportunity to intern and work within different fields of design such as a creativity co-op, a start-up business, printing company and education setting.

After graduating, I started my own freelance business focusing on building brands and print design while working full time at Lyngblomsten Care Center in Saint Paul as its graphic design specialist.

I am excited to learn about all things corn and how my talents can better serve our cause of identifying and promoting opportunities for corn growers while enhancing quality of life.

My name is Alex Trunnell and I am the new public policy specialist for the Minnesota Corn Growers Association.

I am originally from Owatonna, and in high school I played a little basketball and soccer and participated in DECA, a student business marketing group. I graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2015 with a degree in political science with a focus on political theory and a minor in History.

After graduation I worked for the Farm Service Agency in Owatonna for two years, working with the Marketing Assistance Loan program. Though I did not grow up on a farm, I always knew agriculture was important to the community, and while I was at the FSA I realized how incredible and resilient our state’s agriculture sector is.

The last two years I’ve had the opportunity to work at the Minnesota Senate in Saint Paul, learning the ins and out of the legislative process as the committee legislative assistant to Sen. Torrey Westrom. I currently live in Burnsville, and when I’m not working you’ll find me cheering for the Vikings, finding the best breakfast spots in the Twin Cities and traveling when I can.

I still have a lot to learn and am super excited as I begin working at Minnesota Corn. I am looking forward to meeting and working with you all.
