Despite the cancellation of Farmfest, last week was a banner week for Minnesota agriculture.

Minnesota Farmfest was able to continue to elevate the issues most important to farmers through virtual debates and forums, and “Agriculture is Everywhere” week on WCCO Radio put the state’s ag sector in the spotlight with a statewide audience.

The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) was proud to support both, with MCGA directors and Minnesota Corn Research & Promotion Council members participating in interviews throughout the week on a variety of topics. Below are the highlights:

  • A forum, which aired on WCCO Radio, featured MCGA directors discussing the challenges, innovation and opportunities for farmers across Minnesota. Listen here.
  • During WCCO Radio’s The Morning News with Dave Lee, MCGA Vice President Tim Waibel provided an update on the state’s corn farmers prior to harvest. Listen here.
  • As part of KASM Radio Network’s virtual Farmfest coverage, MCGA director Harold Wolle provided a legislative update. Listen here.
  • Also on KASM, MCGA director Brian Thalmann discussed how MCGA is building a bright future for E15 in Minnesota. Listen here.
  • Rounding out the KASM coverage, University of Minnesota Professor Paul Dauenhauer discussed the corn-based plastic research supported by MCGA. Listen here.
  • On Sunday, a forum looking at innovation and new products in agriculture aired on WCCO Radio Sunday morning, featuring MCGA Director Dana Allen-Tully. Listen here.

In addition to media coverage throughout the week, MCGA also debuted a virtual Farmfest booth featuring directors with updates on policy, ethanol, research and consumer engagement. If you haven’t already, check it out today and register to win a $100 Amazon gift card.
