TPT, NAMI hosting suicide prevention and education events

This fall, Twin Cities PBS (TPT) is partnering with NAMI Minnesota to host two events in conjunction with the release of its new national documentary, “Facing Suicide.” The film explores the powerful stories of those impacted by suicide and talks with researchers and scientists whose work is leading to better prevention and treatment. It premiers at 8 p.m. Tuesday on PBS.
On Oct. 4, TPT and NAMI will hold an event in Eagan geared toward parents and educators. On Oct. 6, they will hold an event in St. Cloud geared toward the agricultural community.
The events are designed to elevate and destigmatize the topic of suicide, offer an important message of hope and healing, and empower communities to help those who may be at risk. Both events will feature the Question, Persuade, Respond (QPR) class taught by NAMI Minnesota and University of Minnesota Extension suicide prevention staff. They will also include a screening of excerpts from “Facing Suicide” and a Q&A with suicide prevention staff.
The events are free and include boxed dinners and refreshments. Attendees must register as class size is limited.
Event information is listed below and at tpt.org/events.
