Today, the Next Generation Fuels Act, which would lower fuel prices, reduce carbon emissions, and help shore-up America’s energy security, was reintroduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. The bipartisan bill has four lead sponsors in the U.S. House, including Rep. Angie Craig (D-Minn.). Rep. Brad Finstad (R-Minn.) is also a sponsor.

The bill was reintroduced in the U.S. Senate last week, led by Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), and Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.).

“The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) thanks Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Rep. Angie Craig, Rep. Brad Finstad, and their bipartisan colleagues for sponsoring the Next Generation Fuels Act,” MCGA President Richard Syverson said. “The bill would clean up the U.S. fuel supply and transition new vehicles to cleaner, more efficient fuels that lower costs for drivers and support long-term energy security. We appreciate this bipartisan group of representatives and senators for introducing legislation that would lower fuel prices, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen America’s energy independence.”

The Next Generation Fuels Act builds on our nation’s clean energy progress by advancing higher ethanol blends and new vehicles that work together to deliver greater emission reductions and cost savings to maintain a wider range of competitive fuel and vehicle choices.

The bill would permanently remove regulatory barriers to higher ethanol blends and advanced vehicles. It would not only greatly benefit consumers, but also benefits rural economies by allowing agriculture to play a greater role in energy and environmental solutions and supporting biofuel demand.
