Fall is always a busy time for Minnesota Corn and its partner organizations, and this year is no exception. Starting this week, find Minnesota Corn at events around the state highlighting Unleaded 88 biofuel and the many ways corn growers are building a better future for all Minnesotans.

The fun starts on Saturday when the Minnesota Gophers football team takes on Eastern Michigan at Huntington Bank Stadium during “Celebrate Ag & Food Day.” Fans can find Minnesota Corn and other agriculture businesses and organizations in Gopher Garden on Oak Street outside of 3M Arena at Mariucci before kickoff. Minnesota Corn is once again sponsoring Gophers sports this year, focusing on a message of how Unleaded 88 is a lower-cost, lower-emission fuel option that is homegrown and widely available across Minnesota.

Minnesota Corn is also proud to sponsor the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Farm at the Arb, which will host its annual Field Fest on Saturday. Visitors can enjoy plant-to-plate cooking demonstrations, participate in a scavenger hunt, play interactive games, take crop, orchard, and garden tours, and more. Entry to Field Fest is included in the price of an arboretum ticket.

Next week in northwestern Minnesota, Minnesota Corn will once again have a presence at the Big Iron Farm Show Sept. 12-14 in West Fargo, North Dakota. Minnesota Corn will be on hand to talk with attendees about the latest from the world of corn, and our booth will be the place to sign up or renew your MCGA membership.

At the local level, several county grower associations are partnering with fuel stations in their communities to host fuel events in the next couple weeks. At fuel events, patrons can purchase discounted Unleaded 88 and E85/flex fuels and learn more about the clean-air and cost benefits of these biofuel blends. Visit the Minnesota Corn online calendar for a complete schedule of fuel events.

Finally, Minnesota Corn’s partner organizations will host a handful events catered specifically to growers in the coming weeks. Starting this week, county grower associations throughout the state will host plot days to spotlight the performance of corn and soybean hybrids in their areas. Check out the Minnesota Corn online calendar for a complete schedule of events. Additionally, University of Minnesota Extension will host soil health and soil management field days Thursday and Friday at the West Central Research and Outreach Center in Morris, Minnesota.

At both events, growers will learn about different tillage implements, cover crops, planting “green” in western Minnesota, and soil erosion. The Thursday event will also include a soil health farmer panel, and the Friday event, which is specifically targeted to women in agriculture, will include a session on the economics of cover crops.
