Southeast MN water quality open houses

The state Department of Health has announced three upcoming in-person meeting opportunities in southeastern Minnesota where attendees can take in a presentation about water quality in the area. There will also be a virtual option if the three in-person dates don’t work.

At two of the meetings, attendees can bring their own water sample in a clean glass jar and have it screened for potential presence of nitrate. All three of the meetings, and the virtual option, will include time for questions and answers from the Minnesota Department of Health.
The in-person meeting dates and locations are:
- Stewartville—Wed., June 12
Open house from 5 to 8 p.m., presentation at 6 p.m.

- Rushford—Wed., June 26
Open house from 4 to 8 p.m., presentation at 6:30 p.m.
Rushford – Peterson Public School, 1000 Pine Meadows Lane, Rushford, Minn. 55971
Free nitrate screening will be available starting at 4 p.m. Bring a sample of your private well drinking water from your kitchen tap in a clean glass jar to have it screened for nitrates. This service is provided by Fillmore Soil and Water Conservation District.
