Delay of Farm Bill 2.0 is missed opportunity to bolster family farmers

Today, the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture conducted a full committee mark-up of The Agriculture Act of 2026 or Farm Bill 2.0, delaying the bill by an 11-10 vote. The committee won’t reconsider the legislation until after the Senate’s August recess; Chair Bozeman has indicated he will hold another vote once the Senate returns.
In response, the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) issued the following statement.
“The vote against the Agriculture Act of 2026 is a missed opportunity for family farmers who are struggling with high input costs, depressed commodity prices, and incredible market and weather volatility. The Farm Bill 2.0 contains bipartisan provisions that would bolster markets and address input costs concerns—common-sense provisions like year-round E15, mandatory fertilizer price reporting, and funding export promotion programs. It’s essential that the Senate get these provisions passed.
Despite this vote, we remain hopeful the Senate can finish the job and deliver a Farm Bill 2.0 that will provide meaningful relief and opportunity for our farm families.”
