Teralytic soil probes and real time wireless nutrient tracking
Brian Velde
Teralytic soil probes will be available in limited supplies for the 2019 growing season. Teralytic soil probes use 26 proprietary sensors measuring nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, soil moisture, salinity, soil temp and PH every 15 minutes at depths of 6″, 18″, and 36″ in the soil. The probe will wirelessly transfer the readings remotely to an online platform. If we can accurately track these nutrient availabilities and see how they change throughout the growing season, this will revolutionize agriculture. Imagine if we knew exactly how nitrogen was getting mineralized, or lost within our soils every 15 minutes. This would allow for significant management decisions to be made. We would like to investigate how accurately these probes track Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium.
